  The staff were absolutely amazing. So friendly and welcoming. The location was great, an easy walk to the Palais. We booked a family room and were quite impressed with the size. Breakfast at The Hub downstairs was nice. Quick and easy. Would definitely stay again.

  My original room was pretty dirty and had no hot water, when I asked to change rooms I was told no... I had to push to get a new room... The new room was okay, but still not very clean. The manager was a lovely person, I can tell shes doing her best with a tired old hotel and no doubt a corporate head office who wont renovate or increase her budget.

  Location was good, but we were very disappointed with the room. We paid around $300 for a king room. The room had one tiny window facing a plain brick wall. The carpet was old and there were patches missing in the corners. The bed was super uncomfortable! I understand its common for hotels to push 2 singles together the but mattress was horrible. We could feel all the springs in the mattress and there were massive dips in the middle of both mattresses.
  
  The bathroom door didn't open all the way because the basin was directly behind the door. I placed my perfume on the shelf above the vanity and it slipped of nearly smashing because the shelf was wonky. The shower had mouldy silicone (an easy and in-expensive fix).
  
  The elevator was very slow, tiny and felt dirty. One of the cleaning ladies who exited the lift as we were getting in smelt so bad of bad breath and BO that the smell lingered and we couldn't wait to get out!
  
  We were looking forward to a lovely night away from the kids, but were pretty disappointed with the accommodation, especially for the price. I have to agree with some of the other reviews it felt more like a very expensive backpackers hostel.
  
  Only giving 2 stars because the lady who served at at reception was super lovely.

  I was very impressed with the Rydges hotel at St Kilda. The rooms, Cafe and service was excellent especially Simon the Duty Manager who was across my 2 separate bookings when I called. Breakfast was enjoyable, and it's a great part of St Kilda with lots of dining options and the beach on the doorstep. Highly recommended and great value for money.

  I like to personally thank Hemal for being so considerate. I arrived at 6am due to an early flight and he was so kind to store my luggage and inform me when the rooms are ready. I check-in earlier than expected, which I very much appreciated after having no sleep in the plane. Simon was also very helpful to answer my queries. I had some changes to my booking and everything was modified effortlessly. The main reason I did not give the hotel a 5-star is due to the structure of the building and the rooms. The lift is really outdated, the bathrooms slightly mouldy and the window areas are not cleaned properly. Otherwise, the customer service was excellent! Thank you to the team for making my stay more pleasant than expected.
